Steppin' out with my baby (Aug '10)

Tummy time is for everyone.

I was trying to get a picture of Jaren's new bottom tooth that was showing. I didn't quite manage that but he's just so happy here and I really like my hair. :) Sigh, I see pictures like this and I feel like going out and cutting my hair off again. But then I'll see other pictures where it's not so cute and I think I should keep growing it. We'll see. Going now into summer I think I'll be glad to have it long enough to pull up. And the last time I cut it - it was a non-sister-Katie-cut and it was a disaster for ages. Scary!

Speaking of hair, here are another two shots of my then new hair cut in different styles.

But this post isn't about my hair. It's about my cute little baby, who granted may soon enter the realm of toddlerhood and not be a baby anymore, but he's still my little baby. Well compared to Reid, he's my big baby, but you know what I mean. I had a lot of cute shots of him from some of our August '10 activities and so I thought I'd post them here.

Some progressive shots of us going out on a walk to pick up Varian from the train station nearby.

Sunday night dinner at Oma and Opa's and then at Mya's place. Jaren is overall such a happy baby, as you can see from these pictures.

Bday shopping and dinner for Warren. Jaren was very excited about the puppies and I was very excited about the best curly fries ever (Hog's Breath Cafe).

And then I'll end the post with some pictures from our Christmas in July August that we did with the Maloufs. How I love them!

The best Christmas present I could ever have is the love of this wonderful man.

Redcliffe Pelicans and Shipwrecks - Aug '10

YAY - So I've made it up to August in my blogging timeline. Well August of last year that is, but still it's progress. It looks like I'll be able to do the whole month in a few posts. (I know "be concise" you may say, but...that's not really one of my strong points, nor a goal for this blog, so bear with me.)

So Varian planned a fun outing at Redcliff to see a daily pelican feeding, an art museum, lunch and shipwrecks they have placed on the beach to prevent erosion. I think he knew I would be especially homesick after leaving the states and he was right, and he was right to know fun activities help distract me and make me appreciate the beautiful things Australia has to offer.

Hmm, I think Varian looks so atractive in this shot. What a stud I married! :)

Cedar City and Goodbye

William Shakespeare - gotta love him. The last week of my US adventure I went down to Cedar City with my parents and sister Mandie. My Dad had a conference and we all wanted to tag along to be able to go to the Shakespeare Festival. For those of you who haven't been it's a must-see, must do.  I love it and have gone many times over the years. It's a great atmosphere with the seminars and Greenshows and art exhibits every day and they put on an amazing and professional array of both Shakespeare and non-Shakespeare plays.

Here are pictures of us watching a greenshow, Mandie with her sassy luggage and accessories, and a few showing how adorable Jaren was even for taking that long road trip. I could kiss that face all day long it's so cute!

I didn't get these photos in on earlier posts so I'll include them here as well. We went to Jeremiah's (oh my heavens just look at the size of that scone) to meet up with Varian's old mission companion Ben and his lovely wife Allison and their kids.

Here are some other adorable baby shots before our US trip ended. Seriously, bias aside, I think Jaren is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen. He's so happy and delightful I love him so much! (So in this timeline Reid doesn't exist yet, but be prepared for some gorgeous pictures of him coming up as well! He's already starting to do the big open mouth smiles like Jaren, but overall is just so sweet and tender.)

Of course we had to say goodbye to Costa Vida and their amazing Sweet Pork Salad with Lime Ranch Dressing or Sweet Pork Burrito with it's green chili sauce. Oh please, please, open up your franchise in Australia!!!

But even more than Sweet Portk - oh it's so hard to say goodbye to all my loved ones back home. I love seeing you and spending that time back home but oh it does make me miss you so much when I go back under. :{ Even writing these last blog posts have made me a bit homesick. Know I love you all and that I love hearing from you and I can't wait till I can see you again.

Here are some shots of my brother Ben and my parents dropping me off at the airport. I had to include the ones of me leaving even though they're a little fuzzy. I've got Jaren on my front, the diaper bag on my side, my back pack on my back, and wheeling my carry-on behind me. I am woman hear me roar! :)
